KEY LARGO FISHING REPORT
Key largo reef fishing 12/19 /09
Well here it is the 3rd cold front of the fall/winter season with north winds blowing 20-25 as I write this report. This is a good thing as the shallow reef fishing that I do this time of year has been a bit off. Sure I can always find fish on the shallow rock I have been fishing for the last 21 years, but things have been a little tougher than should be this time of year. It has been a hot long summer and this cold front could be just what we need to move the bigger fish out of the deep to the shallow reefs where we like to fish them. But being a pro charter Captain we need to make fish no matter what, so as of late deeper fishing 60-80 feet has been getting the job done with lots of good yellow tails, some decent mangrove snapper and lots of macks. Also a few good grouper but the season is coming to a close as of Jan. 1 threw April. Tons of muttons but lots of shorts although still finding a few fish in the 5-10lb range mostly on live ballyhoo and cut baits. Hogfish are on and off but this blow may also fix that up. Sharks are common on most all trips.
Tight lines Capt. Bob
