KEY LARGO FISHING REPORT

 9/21/10  Key largo Offshore and Backcountry Fishing

Just got back from summer vacation out west around Jackson WY. for the past 2 months climbing peaks and catching cuts on the fly. Back to key largo have been out a handful of times. Offshore the main bite has been Black fin tuna with a few Wahoo. Trolling on the edge with a downrigger we found some mutton snapper,cudas and cero macks.Stayed inside of 400 feet of water and did not see any dolphin. Also a few stray sailfish around.

           Was out back on Sat. and found lots of action. Fish were on just about every spot we hit. Shorelines held

snapper,jacks,some small redfish and cuda.Open water found some nice sea trout, lady fish and hooked up some tarpon 100 lbs plus. Saw a lot of boats that Sat. looking for snook(as they just opened) but they were hard to find that day for us and other guides I spoke with. Water levels are up and should stay that way for the next month or longer so the snook should pick up after the boats thin out on the weekends. All in all it was a decent day with lots of action.
